5 Stars isnt enough!My wife and I, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, were fortunate to have both Rmi and Clment at Instants Tours as guides for a simply outstanding four days in Champagne in September 2018.Instants Tours planned 10 maison visit/tastings in Champagne from large marquee houses to very small growers with excellent lunch suggestions daily to break up the four days (and keep our senses). We were originally concerned that such an effort would be redundant and possibly boringly repetitive. Rmi and Clment made sure that was not the case, as every day there was a welcomed surprise addition to a tour or a new twist in the many variables of making champagne. We toured maisons that were biodynamic, organic, family owned or globally renowned, each with a different twist in making their wines unique. I came prepared with a specific listing of maisons to consider and Instants Tours edited yet stayed true to the spirit of our intentions, gaining access to some hard-to-get sites and ensuring we tasted the full range of wines including prestige cuvees. Experiencing such treasures as Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 2009 (released that week), Drappier Grande Sendre, Henri Giraud MV12 (fermented in barrels only from the Argonne forest) and Dom Perignon 2009 were unforgettable. Having lunch prepared by the Penet family and visiting the specific lieu-dit Les Fervins at Penet-Chardonnat while purchasing a bottle from that exact vineyard is a story Ill retell numerous times.We traveled throughout the Champagne region, from the Montagne de Reims, Cotes de Blanc, Vale de Marne and into the Aube stopping to visit the grave of August Renoir. Additionally, the countryside with the vineyards was simply breathtaking.Our compliments to both Clment and Rmi for a memorable and outstanding effort. My daughters and I took the train from Paris to Reims and were met by Rem. We spent a little very day touring two small and one medium Champagne houses and had a French lunch while tasting six more champagnes. We learned much about champagne production, bottling, and tasting. What a terrific day hosted by Rem!
